Project Looking Glass
Project Looking Glass explores the relationship between perception, consciousness, and the reality appearing before us. It is conceived as a mirror—not one that reflects the physical image of the viewer, but one that reveals the structure through which reality is experienced.
The composition is formed through the overlapping geometries of the circle and the square. The circle represents continuity, consciousness, and the boundless nature of existence, while the square suggests structure, form, and the material world. Their intersection brings these seemingly opposing dimensions into a single field, where the separation between inner and outer, observer and observed, begins to dissolve.
Openings positioned in the four directions serve as thresholds through which perception and energy may enter, circulate, and return. The centre appears slightly elevated, suggesting an upward movement toward illumination and a perspective beyond ordinary, linear thought.
The “looking glass” ultimately turns the act of seeing back upon itself. Who is looking through the eyes? Where does the observed world end and the observer begin? The artwork invites the viewer to remain within this uncertainty until the distinction between the mirror, the reflection, and the one who sees becomes unclear.
Removing the noise, until the mirror remembers itself.

《Project Looking Glass》は、私たちが見ている世界と、それを見ている意識との関係を探る曼荼羅作品です。
ここでいう「鏡」とは、目の前の姿を映し出すものではありません。世界を見つめる自分自身の内側へと視線を返し、「誰が、この現実を見ているのか」と問いかけるための装置です。
画面の中で重なり合う円と方形は、意識と物質、無限と有限、内側と外側という、異なる性質をもつ領域を表しています。それらは対立するものとして分けられるのではなく、ひとつの構造の中で交差し、互いを成り立たせています。
四方に開かれた入口は、知覚やエネルギーが出入りする境界です。視線は外側から中心へと導かれ、やがて再び外の世界へと開かれていきます。わずかに浮かび上がるように配置された中心は、日常的な思考の平面を離れ、より広い意識へと引き上げられていく感覚を示しています。
鏡を覗いているはずが、いつの間にか、鏡の向こう側から自分自身を見つめ返されている。見る者と見られるもの、現実とその映像、自分と世界。その境界が揺らいだとき、そこに残るものは何なのでしょうか。
《Project Looking Glass》は、答えを示すための作品ではありません。見るという行為そのものを見つめ直し、自己と世界の境界を越えていくための、ひとつの入口です。
雑音を去らせ、鏡がただ在ることを思い出すまで。
